Diana Weeks

Trail Ride Enthusiast, 2022

“I brought my big Shire sporthorse to Mik and Brody this last summer. I am not a show or competing horsewoman, just a trail rider. I am 57 years young, and was worried about having such a large young horse. Mik and Brody really took the time to listen to my needs and got to know me and my horse (Patriot). They truly love horses and are top notch trainers. I loved how down-to-earth they are and didn’t care that I’m just an old lady who loves to trail ride.
They do it all: performance horses, show horses, and folks like me. Your horse will get the best mountain experience, exposure to cattle, long rides, and other horses. I got on my 17 hand, 4 year old horse this evening and rode in condfidence, thanks to Mik and Brody. If you want the best experience for your horse, and a trainer that will listen to your needs, then I highly encourage you to call Mik and Brody Provence at Cowpunch Ponies. They are the best. And most of us want the best for our horses. I could go on and on, your horse will thank you.”

I am so happy to have one of their slots for my coming 4 year old Morgan filly. Y’all did such a great job with her sister JZ last year. Nothing intimidates JZ and she goes where you point her no matter how scary. Highly recommend Mik and Brody.

Mik and Brody are great-wonderful folks! If you want the best people to train your horses and not have them abused, then Mik and Brody are the ones to train your horse! They spend the time and effort and they put tons of miles on your horse. Totally different animal when you get one back home. There’s people who claim there horse trainers by knocking a horse around but that’s a bunch of nonsense period! Mik and Brody are fabulous folks and none of that nonsense goes on with them. They are true horse people and care about there horse training and we all know that putting miles on a horse is what really produces the best horse possible. They did a great job on my horse when I didn’t have the time to get the job done myself! They will do the same for your horse period!! Plus, if you ask nicely, Mik will bring out her guitar and you will be in awe at her beautiful voice and the songs she writes!”

Tuff gathered cows and drug on Hershey today. She was absolutely wonderful! You all did a great job with her! Saddled her up at four am and loaded her in the trailer, unloaded and went to gathering, a cow ran off and he was able to get around her, a bull hit her in the butt and she didnt care. Dragging calves didn’t bother her a bit! You all do a great job starting them, we’re very happy with the two we’ve sent you!”

“Mik and Brody Provence of Cowpunch Ponies are absolutely amazing horse trainers. They have started two Missouri Fox Trotters for us, and did a fabulous job! We couldn’t be happier! They did everything they said they will do, and more. The patience and time that they put into our horses really show; the horses are quiet and confident, trusting and have all the basics of a solid foundation now.
We highly recommend Cowpunch Ponies!”

“I just spent a day with CowPunch Ponies. I am so amazed by the change in Monte [an Arabian gelding]. When he arrived at their barn, his future was questionable. He is now a horse that can do anything–a horse I’d love to have in my barn.
I was present when my friend purchased a filly.  She took her to be started by CPP, and spent two years in their training. She is now phenomenal! Her owner’s first ride on her was bareback and bridleless! Not a step out of place, this filly is show material and will be shown at the Scottsdale Arabian Show, repping CPP. I will be sending my gelding to them this fall. They are ‘that’ good!”

trail rider and occasional cowgirl, July 2021

“My talented but challenging and super-sensitive mare spent four months in the care and training of Mik and Brody Provence, and their assistant trainer, Cori Hoody.
This complicated mare had many mysteries to unlock, including real tension about pressure and hangups under saddle. A lot of trainers–maybe even most trainers–would’ve just ridden her into the ground, forcing her into obedience through mental and physical exhaustion.
That’s not what happened at CPP. Instead, these three trainers worked as a team and put their heads together to observe and assess her daily rides, consider her wins and setbacks, and decide the next course of action. They unstacked the mare’s fears and problems and replaced them with confidence, brick by brick. This took time. It took patience and empathy. And, when a niggling feeling that something still wasn’t right led to a chiropractic visit, BOOM, there was another set of answers found.
With her underlying physical issue now also addressed, the mare really started to bloom. She enjoyed the work. Cori put so many happy miles on her that her shoes were worn thin. Her confidence, attitude, and willingness all soared–in large part because they never pressured her to master specific skills by a certain date. It was all on the mare’s time.
Communication with Mik was frequent and detailed, by phone or text. She was positive in each of these interactions, yet forthcoming when progress was stalled. Always, the mare’s wellbeing was the priority. That’s what you want in horse professionals! The mare has come home healthier in mind and body, and her foundational skills are solidly re-laid. I expect to have many years of joy with her, thanks to their expertise. CowPunch Ponies was EXACTLY the right outfit to help me help my horse.”

AZ Show Arabian owner, August 2020

I cannot say enough about these trainers. I am SURE God had a hand in me finding them. Somehow, I just knew they were the right ones for my filly. She was two when I discovered their advertisement and I immediately reserved a spot for her a year in advance. I dropped her off right after her third birthday. She has had an amazing time there and has become the perfect horse for me. She took my breath away and when I came to ride her for the first time she stole my heart all over again. I know she has had the very best training and has big things in store for her over the next years of her life. When I had issues with my gelding and wondered if he could ever be a safe horse, I took him to them as well. They have worked a miracle with him. He isn’t my Patti-girl, but he is now a wonderful and safe horse to ride. Mik and Brody are miracle workers. They love what they do and it shows! I am so proud to call them my friends. They not only trained my horse–they are also now training me. I only hope to be worthy of these horses they have prepared for me.”

CO mustang owner, 2019

“Mik and Brody are both amazing trainers. So far they have trained three of our horses and we have more scheduled to go to them. I will never send another one of our horses to anyone else!
Each horse we have sent to them they have made amazing progress with. One of our horses, Panzer, could barely even be approached and was super reactive (even after spending 6 months with another trainer). Though he is still a work in progress, the time they put into him shows. He is much more trusting and now I can fully handle him without the issues we had before. The other horse we had them train was our son’s mustang, Fire. Before we sent Fire, he was testing us and we weren’t confident in having our 13 year old son ride him. After we got Fire back, he is SO well behaved and a GREAT kid’s horse! They trained him specifically for our son and now he takes care of his rider. If our son leans off him, Fire stops. He can ride off alone, lead, follow, you name it! He crosses water and will traverse literally anything! Loads and unloads into the trailer perfectly. We are truly impressed with everything the exposed Fire to, and how well he behaves-especially as a 3 year old mustang. They still have our third horse, Apache, but I have no doubt they will make a ton of progress with him too. As I mentioned, we have 2 more horses scheduled to be trained by them and I will never waste my money sending another horse to any other trainer!”

Now happy horse owner, February 2019

“CowPunch Ponies (Mik and Brody) trained two of my horses that were being rehabbed after I rescued them. I started doing research into horse trainers and came across Mik and Brody on Craigslist; after speaking with them I couldn’t wait to get started with their 90 day training program.
Long story short, the horses I got back were beyond recognition and the best money that I have EVER spent. Horses are Brody and Mik’s life and they are so knowledgable, talented, compassionate and some of the best all around people that I’ve ever met. As long as you continue to reinforce the good habits that CowPunch Ponies instills, you will have a horse that doubles in value and is capable of doing literally ANYTHING that you ask of them while building a bond and mutual respect that can last for life.”

“CowPunch Ponies, Mik and Brody Provence, hold my highest level of regard with respect to their dedicated commitment and work ethic applied to the horses they train. I appreciate their talents in working patiently and skillfully with all temperaments of horses, and in teaching trust at every level of interaction with humans-riding pursuits, overall behavior and the willing interaction necessary to build a successful one-on-one relationship between human and horse. I strongly give them five stars in recommendation of ALL aspects of care and training of my horses.”

Jube Odell

CO cowboy 2019

“My name is Jube Odell. I have had horses ridden by Mik and Brody in the last year and neither one was an easy horse to start. They did an EXCELLENT job with both! I was able to get on them and do a day’s work the day I got them home. I have had *other* horse trainers ride my colts before and I had more bad habits to deal with than when I took them–but Mik and Brody are NOT “those trainers”!  I HIGHLY recommend these two individuals for horse training and will use them again if they have the time! They stay really booked up, and that says a lot on it’s own about their training. If you want a personal referral, please call my cell phone [505-330-4662]

“Thanks, Mik and Brody. My horse Harley is GREAT. Your attitude working with horses is superb. I am so very pleased with your work on my horse. This is not just round pen training–this is crossing rivers, climbing mountains, over dead fall, ponying horses, working cows, using a rope and saddlebags, etc. Just an all around work ethic. You guys work harder than any other young couple I have seen from this generation. Great job guys, thanks!”

“I want to share my gelding Leroy’s story with you, and it might be long–but worth the read.
About 3 years or so ago, a beautiful big hearted gelding named Leroy (as I was told) was bound for slaughter stuck on a semi full of other horses in Idaho. Somehow, he ended up at a rescue and then was adopted out by two very nice folks. They were told he was wild (a reservation horse most likely) and had no training. They had him about 2 years and he was about 10 or so old then, and guessing he’s 12-13 now. He was just a pasture pet for them at that time. Their marriage ended and I got Leroy when they split. He was a very untrusting, scared horse that had SEVERE confidence and trust issues. I spent many months, days and hours trying to gain some of his confidence and respect from the ground, however, I knew that he would need the best trainer(s) that would have a soft but firm hand. Someone who would give him the time and patience he needed to grow, but not push him to conform to some calendar schedule. Someone I could trust, too. Moving forward…
We moved from ID to CO last August (2018) and I spent more time with Leroy, but I knew I did not have the confidence or know-how to ride him or finish him and help him to continue to build his confidence both on the ground and in the saddle. I searched CL and found Mik’s add about horse training, and although it was about 30 days old I took the chance and sent her a message. It was that chance I took that has and forever will change Leroy’s life. Both Mik and Brody were everything I was looking for in a horse trainer and MORE! They spent countless hours, days and actual months building his confidence up, gaining his trust and understanding what made him tick. If you saw this horse from when I first got him to who and what he is now, you would never know he had all those issues. He still has some “uh oh” moments, but (thanks to Mik and Brody) now he actually THINKS about it and moves on–instead of blowing up and reacting. Not only did they help my boy Leroy, they (especially Mik) put aside her time to help me with my own confidence issues. She listened to me and she helped me no matter what and taught me how to be the leader Leroy needed. Leroy and I will continue to grow and support each other in our many journeys ahead. I could never ever thank either of them enough for how much they helped Leroy..and me. Love to you both.”

I want to thank Mik and Brody for the wonderful job they did with my leopard appaloosa horse, Arrow. I sent him to them for riding and confidence building. He just didn’t trust people on his back which made it hard for me to trust him. He had spooked out from under me in 2017 and I broke my arm in two places. I am SO GLAD I took him to them! They patiently and consistently worked with him and put many hours and miles on him–gently. They invested much time in working on his fears from his back with all kinds of objects, moments and sounds. He is completely different horse. He goes anywhere you point him, drags objects, and I can take off or put on my jacket while mounted and he is fine (this would NEVER have happened before!). When he has a question, he watches and thinks instead of reacting. He is even better in the things he was already good at! I would HIGHLY recommend this young couple to anyone for any reason your horse might need help. They are very gracious, and kind to both horse and owner, and they know their stuff! It shows when people care about the horses they are training. These two REALLY care. They get 5 stars from me!!!! Thank you again, Mik and Brody, for giving back to me a horse that trusts me and I can trust and we can go on together to be real partners. God’s blessings on you both and all you put your hand to!”

What all can I say about the work these lovely folks do? I don’t know where to even begin! When we first sent Kalooka (our mare) off, she–although brilliant–had many bad habits built up. Lots of attitude, laziness, stubbornness, and an extremely dangerous and dominant way about her that had us frustrated. A few times she even charged us during feeding time and would bite and kick. When we reached out to CowPunch Ponies, Mik gave us a few pointers before coming out to help us. Those pointers were the start to something GREAT. When Kalooka went off for training, within a couple weeks we had already seen massive progress! They were so good with keeping us up to date with what was going on and how Kalooka was doing…her weaknesses, her strengths, and how Mik was utilizing those to make her an amazing horse. Week after week we saw tremendous progress and fell in love with our horse more and more every update. We just got our Kalooka back and it’s as if she’s a whole new horse. For the first time, I was able to ride her without any complications. Kalooka is now an obediant, brilliant, reliable, willing and IN SHAPE mare with a “lot of heart”! Mik and Brody did a wonderful job and were so kind and knowledgeable. We are actually sending our gelding to them as well. To say we are simply “pleased” would be an understatement. Thank you, Mik, for all that you did…you are extremely appreciated!

“CowPunch Ponies did a great job with my little mare! She has experienced things that will make her a MUCH better horse. The great work they did and taught my mare is more then I expected! Thank you Mik [and Brody] for all your hard work!
I would highly recommend if you have a horse needing training to send it to them !”

To anyone that has a horse in need of training: I HIGHLY recommend Mik and Brody at CowPunch Ponies. My horse, Hillbilly Willy, was a green broke 4 year old, no bad habits, but only about 35 or 36 rides on him. I work 3 jobs and , if lucky, get to ride about 2 hours on Sundays. When Mik told me she would ride my horse a minimum of 15 miles a day, 5 days a week, I figured that would be a great way to really get him used to all kinds of things. Get used to all kinds of things he did. When I picked him up, he had a pretty good rein, was hobble broke, crossed water without hesitation, was much softer at the trot and canter, and he was friendlier. He had a lot of miles, and a lot of soft training. I can open gates without getting off, he’s not afraid of a rope or a slicker, and, all in all, I couldn’t ask for a better four year old. I’m 70 years old and feel absolutely confident when riding Hillbilly. I trained horses when I was younger, rode saddle broncs and cutting horses. I had Dale Wilkinson train a reining horse for me years ago, so I have been around horses and trainers all my life. Mik and Brody are right up there with the best trainers anywhere.”
